Ann Shirley (Barber) Beaulieu Price was born on July 29th, 1934, in Portsea, Portsmouth UK to Alan Barber and Doris (Frostick) Barber. Before her sister Janet was born in 1939, her family moved inland to be closer to her father's family. During the (Blitz) bombing from Germany which began in September of 1940, air raids would sound, Ann and family would join their neighbor in his bunker keeping each other company by playing some board games or if needed staying the night on cots.
After completing her studies in nursing education she started her career in London, UK only to find out after three months of night duty, nursing wasn't for her. However, Ann loved helping others found ways she could continue assisting others which led her to learning bookkeeping and the financial industry.
Ann met her husband, Lionel Beaulieu through church and military activities. Lionel Beaulieu and Ann married in June 1955 and moved back to the States Nov. 1956 with their first child, Carol. Their second child, Janette was born while stationed in San Bernardino, CA followed by a transfer to England AFB in Alexandria, Louisiana.
Ann was active studying for Naturalization process to become a citizen of the United States, something she was very proud of. After her 1st marriage ended, she finally settled down in Jacksonville, AR with her three children: Carol, Paul and Lisa. She took a course where corporations would choose from the gene pool for new hires which led her to working for Bank of America in their BankAmericard department (banking industry's first Credit Cards) in 1967. In 1972, Ann married Dr. Robert M Price, DCC, in Jacksonville, AR. Ann continued working in the financial industry and started working for Dillard's Federal Credit Union in 1974 and came to love the Credit Union philosophy of People helping people. She eventually became the CEO of Arkansas Central Federal Credit Union, continuing until she retired in 2000. She stayed active after retirement, working part-time with other Credit Unions when needed, was a member of her condominium board, and assisted political groups. Throughout her life, Ann was active in politics. The highpoint was when she and her Credit Union group met with President Bill Clinton at the Whitehouse, which she proudly displayed the photo of that event on her office wall.
In 2004 Ann made the move to Arlington, TX to be closer to some of her grandchildren. Shortly after moving to Arlington, she became active with the DFW Airport American Ambassador's volunteer program, assisting those individuals needing connecting flight information or sending them to the correct luggage carousel. She also stayed active within the Democratic movement with TX Democratic Women's Group.
Ann loved traveling, whether it was a cruise or traveling across the US. Ann cruised to Hawaii, Alaska and through the Panama Canal, she flew to Australia, visiting her niece, Karen with her sister, Janet and traveling Australia by train and featuring the Uluru Rock. She also flew to Peru and visited Machu Picchu. Ann also loved having family vacations, taking the grandkids to some memorable and fun places. She and Lisa, with grandkids in tow drove to San Deigo to visit her oldest grandson, David and his newest member of the family, Kyle. During that trip, there were two major stops, one to the Grand Canyon and then the other stopping in Albuquerque, NM to visit her daughter, Carol. She also loved hosting Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners along with many other events, especially when the grandkids were in attendance.
Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Doris Barber and Alan Barber, two children: Janette Beaulieu and Carol Beaulieu DePew Nash. She is survived by her sister, Janet Norris and brothers, Tony Barber (Kate), and John Barber (Jerri). Also survived by her children Paul Beaulieu, Lisa Penny (Doug), grandchildren: David DePew (Brandi), Jessica Beaulieu, Scott Beaulieu (Tawney), Chris Penny (Nichole), Laura Penny Williams (Chelsea), and Carly Penny. Great grandchildren: Kyle, Katelyn, Aiden DePew, Colin, Scarlet, Audrey Beaulieu, Olivia, Liam and Landon Penny along with many nieces and nephews and extended great grandkids.
Memorial service is pending until further notice.
In lieu of flowers & if desired, donations can be made either to the Leukemia Foundation or to St. Jude's Hospital. Both are dear to Ann's heart.
