Ana Grosz

December 8, 1927 — July 29, 2023

Ana Grosz, 95, passed away on July 29, 2023, in Dallas, Texas.
Ana Grosz was born on December 8, 1927 in a Transylvanian town, Sibiu, Romania. She was the first of seven children with one sister left on this earth. Ana apprenticed as a seamstress/ tailor when she was a young teenager in Sibiu and moved to Bucharest where she lived through the bombings of WWII. She, along with other young people in the city held together and volunteered to help clear ruble and find survivors in the aftermath of the bombings. After the war in Bucharest, she met her soon to be husband Victor Grosz, a Holocaust survivor, and married him in 1950. In 1951 she gave birth to her loving daughter Felicia. Ana and Victor worked hard all of their life in the world of fashion, and managed large teams of seamstresses and tailors throughout their careers. Throughout their lives Ana and her family struggled through many hardships living in a post war Europe, dealing with the likes of an oppressive communist regime for 30+ years while providing the best they could for themselves and their immediate family. In the late seventies they began taking care of their grandchild, Julian. Ana and Victor helped raise him and create great memories in the first few years before he and his mother Felicia, moved to the United States to start a new life with his father. Occasionally, Ana and Victor would come and visit to the delight of their child and grandchild during the 1980’s and only Ana during the ’90s after her husband Victor passed. Eventually in the late 2000’s Ana moved in with her daughter Felicia to live the rest of her life out with her. During that time Ana battled cancer and became a breast cancer survivor! Later on, she was able to see her grandchild become a man and have family of his own. When her first great grandchild Olivia was born it gave her a new leash on life. Overjoyed and attentive Ana sang melodious rhymes and doted on her great granddaughter and then a little later her great grandson, Adrian. Ana enjoyed being with her family and her extended family, especially when the families gathered for celebrations and dinners. She always wished her family and friends, “Long Life, Health, Happiness and Faith” and tried to impart the wisdom she picked up over her long life. In the end we got to see her one last time happy and alert, we all said goodbye. She passed suddenly without suffering, shortly after visiting her family. Thank you Ana, aka Maia, for raising us and taking care of us. Thank you for everything you have done throughout your long and eventful life we love you!
