Amy Elizabeth Lawyer, 62, of Arlington, Texas passed away Wednesday, November 27, 2024. She was born in Cleburne, Texas to Edward and Doris Peters on September 19, 1962.
School age years, 1st – 12th grade, Amy was in the Blue Bird & Camp Fire Girls troops, being the sole Senior of her troop. She also played clarinet as a member of the Golden Pride of Cleburne High, which earned area, regional and state awards during her high school years.
Amy worked for 10 years at Arlington Memorial Hospital. Her proudest was working in the neurosurgical division as a scrub & circulation roll. She went to work at Aetna (now Aetna\CVS Healthcare). Earning several promotions throughout her 29-year career. Serving as a Healthcare Manager, Amy completed implementation of special projects to support members and providers in multiple clinical/ Utilization Management areas.
Amy's passion was dog rescue. She networked dogs in shelters, and other homeless dogs primarily in Arlington and Cleburne. She performed dog adoption events for multiple organizations. She lost count of the number of dogs she helped place in loving homes in Texas, New Mexico, Colorado, and Oregon. Along with a local business she founded an annual dog rescue event held for multiple organizations on Memorial Day for five years.
She received a new shiny box of Crayola crayons at the beginning of school year until age 43 years when her mom passed. She held several fund & Crayola drives for boxes of crayons, new pencils & children's bibles to an underserved area in Kenya.
Amy married Patrick in 1995. They enjoyed doing dog rescue together, traveling, concerts, music, attending antique car shows, and dining out & movies. She was of the Baptist faith and was a member of College Heights Baptist Church.
Amy is survived by her husband of 29 years, Patrick Lawyer of Arlington; Fur babies, Currie, Dexter, Ralphie P. Nutt, Sophie, bubba and Hollee; Nieces and nephew, Sarah Standridge, Brian Standridge, Steve and Cindy McCoy, Bill and Teresa McCoy, Kathi and Tom Schlientz; and a host of extended family and friends.
