ALLEE H. LEWIE, a woman of faith, mother of five, military wife, and lifelong Baptist, passed away on January 25, 2021, at the age of 97 years, four months and seven days. She is survived by her children, Linda Lee Crumley and husband Clyde; Janice Allee Lewie, Charles Alan Lewie, and Kathy Jo Jones. Her daughter, Sydney Anne Freeman, passed away in 2018. Allee Hodges, at age 15, married Albert Sidney Lewie, Jr. on July 20, 1939 which was his 18th birthday. He joined the military during World War II and they traveled the world until his retirement in 1966. He eventually accepted a position at the University of Texas at Arlington where he was in charge of the MBA program. Allee was the consummate officer's wife and faculty wife. Both careers bequeathed them with many lifelong friends. Upon retirement from UTA in 1982, Allee and Sidney moved to their home in Woodland Park, Colorado. They were lifelong lovers until his death in 1988. Mrs. Lewie had resided at Lakewood Village Retirement Community in Fort Worth for 17 years where she volunteered in many capacities. In 2012, she was awarded the Leading Age Texas Volunteer Achievement Award and was honored at a luncheon at the Fairmount Hotel in Dallas. At Lakewood, she led exercise classes, directed social functions, and made personal visits to residents who needed extra care and attention. She was a member of the Resident Ambassador Program. In addition to her children, she is survived by her sister-in-law, Barbara Lewie Berry; special niece, Lindy Land Preston; as well as several additional nieces and nephews. She also leaves a legacy of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Sidney, and daughter, Sydney Anne, Allee was preceded in death by her mother, her father, one brother and three sisters. Because of Covid-19, a private family graveside service will be held at Moore Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Arlington, Texas. The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorials be directed to a charity of your choice.
