Alice Jo McElroy, 90, passed away on Monday, December 24, 2018.
Funeral: 1:30 p.m. Friday, December 28, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 1200 W. Green Oaks Blvd., Arlington. Interment: Parkdale Cemetery, Arlington. Visitation: 6-8 p.m. Thursday, December 27, at Wade Family Funeral Home, 4140 W. Pioneer Parkway, Arlington.
Jo was born on January 23, 1928 in Chriesman, TX to Eric Lewis Gasper and Loraine Elizabeth Dulin Gasper. The youngest of 8 children, she loved the outdoors and reading. After high school, she attended Secretary School in Waco; and then moved to Fort Stockton before settling in Dallas. She worked at Magnolia (Exxon Mobil) as their corporate librarian.
Jo met the love of her life, Bo McElroy, on a blind date and they were married on April 11, 1952. She left Magnolia to raise her 3 children. She later worked for the City of Pantego, the Arlington Citizen Journal, and D&D Enterprise, where she retired in December 23, 2006. After her husband passed away, she took over his business, Sanajon, along with her son, Rod.
Jo mothered all of the neighborhood children in Pantego. They always knew they could go to her. She was an amazing woman, sweet loving mother, admired by her family and friends.
Jo was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Ray “Bo” McElroy.
Survivors: Sons, Rod McElroy, Randy McElroy and wife, Mariann; daughter, Becky Brown and husband, Steve; and numerous nieces and nephews.
