Alexander Frank Hydak, 94, Chief Master Sargent USAF, Retired, passed away on Sunday, January 21, 2018 in Arlington. Mass of Christian Burial: 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 30, at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church, 1200 S. Davis Dr., Arlington with a rosary beginning at 10:30 a.m. Interment: 2:00 p.m., Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, Dallas. Alex was born on February 18, 1923 in Butler, Pennsylvania. He was raised in Russellton #2, PA and enlisted on July 11, 1941 in the U.S. Army Air Corps. Alex flew as Aerial-Gunner in A-26 in New Guinea, Philippines, and Okinawa with the 417th Bomb Group 672 Bomb Squadron. He was a member of S.A.C in 43rd OMS and 305th Bomb Wing. Alex worked on A-20's, B-29's, B-50's, B-58's, F-111, and F-16. He was a member of the B-58 Hustler Association. Alex was Assistant Crew Chief on “Lucky Lady II”, first airplane to fly non-top around the world. Alex retired from the Air Force on November 1, 1967. A former resident of Benbrook 40 years, he worked at General Dynamics until his retirement in 1986. Alex was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Betty Hydak. Survivors: Son, Al Hydak and wife, Sharon; granddaughter, Michele Alexander and husband, Chris; grandson, Christopher Hydak and wife, Beth; great-grandsons, Stefan, Austin, Jonathon and Jack; great-granddaughter, Alexis.
