ARLINGTON -- Virginia Elizabeth Barry Hendricks, age 94, of Arlington entered into eternal heavenly rest on Thursday, Oct. 25, 2012. Funeral: 3 p.m. Saturday in Wade Family Funeral Home Chapel, 4140 W. Pioneer Parkway, Arlington, Dr. James Scirratt officiating. Entombment: Following the service in Moore Memorial Gardens, Arlington. Visitation: The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Wade Family Funeral Home. She was born Dec. 19, 1917, to John Morris Barry and Lillian Nettie Perry Barry in Fort Worth. Virginia grew up in Fort Worth attending DeZavala and George Clarke elementary schools, Daggett Junior High and Central High when R.L. Paschal was the principal. She met the love of her life while attending Central High and married George Arthur Hendricks on June 7, 1937, in Weatherford. Virginia and George raised three sons while living in various West Texas locales, including Fort Worth, Snyder, Eastland, and Sweetwater. After George's retirement from Texas Electric Service Company in 1978, they moved from Sweetwater to Arlington to be closer to family. Virginia was a career housewife. She will be remembered as a devoted wife, proud mother, and dearest "Mimi" to her family and those she so dearly loved. Through the years she was involved with school PTAs, a Cub Scout den mother, and room mother when the opportunities arose. She faithfully taught the Beginner's Sunday School Class and Vacation Bible School at the First Baptist Church for many years while raising her family in Sweetwater. She was a life member of the Order of the Eastern Star, a member of the Beauceants, and the Daughters of the Nile serving beside her husband in his various Masonic endeavors. In later years, she was a proud member of the Senior Choir at First Baptist Church in Arlington. Her resolve, strength and Irish "spirit" will be truly missed by her family and others who knew her well. May you soar among angels on high! She was preceded in death by her husband, George Arthur Hendricks (1985); a son, Paul Arthur Hendricks (1990); a grandson, Blythe Hendricks (1997); her parents (1949/1977); a sister (1988); and two brothers (1984/1998). Virginia was the last known surviving member from her generation in both the Perry and Barry families. She was immensely proud of her Irish heritage as well as her deep Texas roots. Survivors: She is survived by two sons, Barry Hendricks and wife, Janice, and Randy Hendricks and wife, Jolanda, all of Arlington; grandchildren, Greg Hendricks and wife, Brenda, of Groom, Jay Hendricks and wife, Melinda, of Amarillo, Drew Hendricks and wife, Meredith, of Spring, Michelle Kincaid and husband, Chris, of Dallas, Michael Hendricks of Gurley, Ala., Dawn Breland and husband, Lonnie, of Gulfport, Miss., Lisa King and husband, Monty, of Amarillo, Texas, Aimee Slover and husband Scott of Arlington, Eric Hendricks and wife, Alicia, of Arlington, and Ashlee Hendricks of Arlington; as well as numerous great-children. 1. Randy and Barry and family – my sincere condolences to you both and your entire families. Thank you for sharing your precioud Mother with us at Town Hall and thank you for allowing us to become like family. Your Mom was a precious lady and brought class (as you do) to Town Hall. I personally felt you all such a blessing to me over the years and certainly recently.

As we know she is in a better place, yet the void is great in our hearts.

I pray for comfort and peace each day for you.

    Sincerely

    Jan Miler
