Varrell D. McClain

ARLINGTON -- Varrell D. McClain, 89, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2015, in Arlington. Funeral: 12:30 p.m. Monday at Wade Family Funeral Home, 4140 W. Pioneer Parkway, Arlington, Mr. Max Baker officiating. Interment: 2:30 p.m. in Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, Dallas, Lane C. Visitation: 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Varrell was born May 21, 1925, in Doole to John Stoddard McClain and Emma Dee McNeely McClain. An Arlington resident since 1975, he was a member of North Davis Church of Christ. He retired from the State Comptroller's Office after 31 years of service. Varrell enjoyed taking family vacations, hunting and golf. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Kenneth. Survivors: Wife of 57 years, Margaret Fay Davidson McClain; daughters, Thelma Sensabaugh and husband, Robert, Kay Taylor and husband, Don, and Glenna Loftin and husband, Tim; sister, Fern Jones; sister-in-law, Betty McClain; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
