Valerie Elma Boudreaux Murphy, 96, died on March 19, 2022.

Graveside Service: 12 p.m. Wednesday, March 30, at Parkdale Cemetery, 701 Mary Street, Arlington.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers, the family are requesting donations to Operation Kindness in Carrolton, Texas and to the Arlington Animal Services Shelter.

Valerie was born November 16, 1925 in New Orleans, Louisiana to Zerelda Conley and Carlos Boudreaux. She attended Brownsville High School in Brownsville, Texas and graduated in 1943. She then attended college at Southwest Texas State College in San Marcos, Texas. She worked at Texas Department of Public Services. In 1948, she married Milford Roberts Murphy in Austin, Texas. They moved to Arlington in 1953. In 1969, she worked in the Arlington Independent School System for 20 years.

Valerie enjoyed sewing, quilting, reading, and her four-legged friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years; and her brother, Malcolm Boudreaux.

Survivors:  Daughters, Susan Lynn Murphy of Austin; Patty Murphy of Arlington; Nancy Ellen Murphy of Arlington; granddaughters, Alissa Murphy Herndon of Euless and Natalie Marie Murphy of Austin.
