Born in: Chattanooga, Tennessee
Resided in: Arlington, Texas

“The time has come for my departure. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, and I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge will award to me on that day – and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for His appearing.” II Timothy 4:6-8
Steve was born and raised in Chattanooga, TN. His parents, Mildred Woodward and Oden Loomis Woodward, raised four children in a Christian home environment. Steve and his siblings have remained close through all these many years.
Steve attended Dallas Theological Seminary and received a B.A. from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville, a B.D. from Columbia Theological Seminary and a Ph.D. from the University of Aberdeen in Aberdeen, Scotland.
He served as professor of Greek and New Testament Literature at Winnipeg Bible College. His passion was for Biblical Languages and his expertise was in Koine Greek, the common Greek at the time of the New Testament. He believed it unlocked many nuances of understanding of his Lord’s teachings. It was also highly beneficial for use by missionaries working in the field, who were compiling their first-time NT translations.
He taught in the Philippines, at Dallas Baptist University and the Summer Institute of Linguistics with Wycliffe Bible Translators.
Steve is survived by his wife, Cris Woodward; his sister Linda Noffsinger; his brother Bud Woodward; his sister-in-law Deborah Stratton; numerous nieces, nephews; dear friend, Mike Owens; and a countless number of precious saints of our Lord who he called friends.
Memorial contributions can be made to Grace Street Fellowship Church or Mission Arlington.
