Samuel Lewis Bogart

Sam L. Bogart was born 1/31/1932 to Percy Lovan and Iva Mae Bogart in
Clinton, MO. He died 1/31/2022 in Fort Worth, TX. Sam Bogart was
a radio-man through and through. He helped put himself through college
working at KGWA in Enid, OK in the early ‘50’s. He graduated from Phillips
University, Enid, OK in 1954. He was an athlete, swimmer, long jump and sprinter
track star in college. He had the best time in the 100-yard dash in the region.
Received his Master of Arts from Northwestern University. He was the Morning Man
on WBAP AM & FM, Fort Worth, TX in the early 60’s. Other stations where he worked were:
KLWN Lawrence, KS, KLIN Lincoln, NE, KTOK Oklahoma City, WMAQ Chicago IL, and KJIM Fort Worth,
TX. He was a freelance voice talent from 1960 until his death. He also recorded for Audible
Books in the past 6 years. And he taught at TCU Extended Education and TCU Silver Frogs
for many years. He was a passionate TCU Horned Frog fan and was
the Halftime Announcer for the TCU Horned Frog Marching Band for 46 years
under direction of nine TCU band directors. He and his wife Velma made many
of the out-of-town trips with the band including the Rose Bowl in 2010 when they
beat Wisconsin 21-19. Sam loved living in Dalworthington Gardens for 48 years
and tended a large bed of roses in the rich soil. His family enjoyed the country-
feeling and taught many how to swim in the backyard. His family includes:
wife Velma Wiley Bogart, son Larry Bogart, daughters Nancy Tuttle, Mandy Roach,
(Jim) and Brenda Spedden (Aaron). Grandchildren: Caitlyn Bogart, Wesley Bogart,
Ashlee Tuttle, Aubree Tindell (kip), Brooke Savells (Andrew), Trey Tuttle, Sport Tuttle,
Taylor Spedden, Tanner Spedden, Madison Spedden, Katie Roach and Connor Roach
Two Great-Grandchildren, Clyde Tindell and Allison Savells. A memorial service will
be held Saturday, February 5, 2:00 pm at First Christian Church, 910 S. Collins
