R.G. “Rusty” Russell, 79, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 17, 2022 in Arlington, TX.
Memorial Service: 11 a.m. Friday, February 4, at Wade Family Funeral Home Chapel, 4140 W. Pioneer Parkway, Arlington. Interment: 1:30 p.m. at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas.
Rusty was born on June 11, 1942, in Pasadena, Texas to Avrey Houston Russell and Oleta Mae (Webb) Russell. He was an Air Force veteran and retired Administrative Law Judge for the State of Texas. Rusty attended undergraduate school at Arlington State College, now the University of Texas at Arlington, and graduated with a Law degree from the University of Texas at Austin.
At 26, Rusty married Judy Kay Collins on June 27, 1968. Shortly after graduating from UT Austin, they moved back to Arlington, where Rusty would practice law for more than 50 years. Throughout his life, he gave back to his community in many ways including officiating football and teaching law at local colleges for more than two decades.
He was a down to earth man with a great appreciation and deep love for family and friends. He enjoyed working on automobiles and spending time with his son and grandson. He recently shared that his single greatest achievement was his 53-year marriage and deep relationship with his wife Judy.
Survivors: Loving wife, Judy Kay Russell; son, Ray Russell; and grandson, Ryan Russell.
