ARLINGTON -- Omar Alejandro Vela, 20, passed away Sunday, Sept. 23, 2012, in Dallas.
Funeral: Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1927 SW Green Oaks Blvd., Arlington, with the Rev. Daniel Kelley as celebrant. Interment: Skyvue Memorial Gardens, Mansfield. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Wade Family Funeral Home, 4140 W. Pioneer Parkway, Arlington, with a rosary at 7.
Omar was born Oct. 12, 1991, in Fresnillo, Zacatecas, Mexico, to Jose Guadalupe Vela and Cleofas Garcia Vela. He was raised in Fort Worth and Arlington. Omar graduated from Summit High School in Mansfield and attended St. Joseph Catholic Church. He worked as a carpenter in remodeling. His family and children were most important to him.
Survivors: Beloved wife, Marie Nicole Porras Vela; son, Isaiah Alejandro Vela; daughter, Serenity Marie Vela; parents, Cleo and Jose Vela; brother, Juan Diego Vela; sisters, Cecilia Elizabeth Vela and Maria Guadalupe Vela; grandfather, Estevan Vela; grandmother, Robertina Martinez; and numerous uncles, cousins and friends.
