Arlington -- Mary Louise Cooper passed away Saturday, April 9, 2016, at peace and surrounded by her loving family. Funeral: 1 p.m. Tuesday at Advent Lutheran Church, 3232 S. Cooper St., Arlington. Interment: Parkdale Cemetery, Arlington. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Wade Family Funeral Home, 4140 W. Pioneer Parkway, Arlington. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Advent Lutheran Church. Mary Louise was born on July 24, 1926, in Glen Flora, the daughter of Bennie and Delta Schramm. She grew up in Wharton County and upon high school graduation attended Southwest Texas State Teachers College where she met her future husband. She married Coop after World War II in El Campo on Oct. 22, 1945. They moved to Arlington in 1950 where they raised a family and lived for 65 years. She went back to college at Texas Wesleyan in the mid-1960s and earned her bachelor's degree in education in 1967. She was a math teacher for 20 years in the Arlington school district. As a deep-rooted resident of "old Arlington," Louise had the gift of being able to establish wonderful, long-lasting friendships. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, playing tennis and bridge, and being an active longtime member of the Athenians and her Advent Lutheran Church family. She treasured family get-togethers, and loved to reminisce about anything to do with family history. She was loving and caring, and always had a kind word. She will always be remembered by her family for her gracious and thankful spirit. The family would like to express its heartfelt gratitude to Brookdale Broadway Cityview and VITAS Hospice for taking loving care of their special mother. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Dorothy Petersen; and her husband, CW Cooper. Survivors: Children, Scott Cooper and wife, Susan, Jeff Cooper and wife, Jane, Sara Moore and husband, David; grandchildren, Ali Lucas and husband, Thomas, Mike Cooper, Will Cooper and Samantha Cooper; great-grandchildren, Cooper Lucas and Kam Lucas; sister, Betty Raun; brother, Bennie Schramm; and many nieces and nephews.
