ARLINGTON -- Marcelle "Marti" Harnden, 86, took her first breath in heaven Monday, Sept. 8, 2014. Celebration of life: 10 a.m. Tuesday at Wade Family Funeral Home, 4140 W. Pioneer Parkway, Arlington. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorials: Her memory may be honored with donations to the American Cancer Society. Marti was born in 1928 in Huntington and attended college in Houston. She and David Harnden were married in November 1949. They moved to the Dallas area with their two daughters in 1956. David worked at Hunt Energy for over 30 years. They settled in Richardson and Marti held various jobs while being chief chauffer for all the lessons and activities for daughters, Sharon and Joni. Marti was the youngest of six girls and two boys in her family and enjoyed trips home and family reunions. Some of her great loves were the East Texas pine trees, Dixieland jazz and family activities. She and David moved to Arlington in 1992 to be nearer to their grandchildren. They joined Trinity United Methodist Church and had many friends in the ABC Sunday School Class. Survivors: Husband of 65 years, David; daughters, Sharon Landers and husband, Randy, and Joni Harnden; two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.
