Lynne May Snyder

lynne snyder

July 3, 1956 ~ December 15, 2022

Born in: Portsmouth, Va.
Resided in: Arlington, Tx.

Lynne Snyder lost her short battle with cancer on December 15, 2022, in her home and in the presence of loved ones.

The family will host a visitation from 6-8pm on December 20, 2022, at Wade Family Funeral Home in Arlington.

Lynne was the loving wife of 41 years to Richard and mother to Greg and Brent. Lynne was born in Portsmouth, Virginia, to Phyllis Loonam and Joseph Riser on July 3, 1956, grew up around the world as the daughter of a Naval officer, and eventually graduated from Kempsville High School at the age of 17. She worked as a civil servant for the Office of Personnel Management in Virginia Beach, even serving as the president of the local AFGE, and eventually moved to Dallas in 1981 where she worked for the US Treasury. In Texas, she successfully started and ran multiple businesses in the real estate industry, including publishing a newsletter focused on local real estate, managing a portfolio of rental property, and a property repair and maintenance company that exclusively employed women. She and her employees provided pro bono services to the Women’s Shelters in the area.

She was an excellent mother to both her children, volunteering as a board member of the North Arlington Little League and giving countless hours in order to make sure all the kids involved were given the opportunities to learn life lessons through sports. She gave all the time she had (and then some) to any extracurricular activities her kids involved themselves in. In 2004, she and her husband took over Divine Floral & Gifts and have owned that business ever since. She has continued to make giving back a priority by supporting local charities, including the Helping Our Heroes Foundation.
Those she worked with marveled at her ability to look past flaws and mistakes, and to treat everyone with respect and dignity. Her home was always open to everyone. If you were in her home, you were family. She shared everything she had and gave to others whenever possible, committing to various charitable organizations in the area each year.

She is survived by her husband, Richard Snyder; sons, Brent Snyder (Chrissie) and Greg Snyder; sister, Sherry Riser.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Riser and Phyllis Loonam.

Lynne believed anyone can do anything and anything can be fixed. In her memory, the family asks that you go fix something broken, give your time to someone in need, and spend time with people you love.

  1. Lynne was always the Lil’ Sister because she was to my best friend (Sherry Riser) all through elementary and high school and continuing today. My thoughts and prayers go out to her husband and sons and to Sherry.
