Laverne Ella Meadows, 84, passed away Thursday, Jan. 26, 2012, in Arlington. Funeral: 3 p.m. Monday in Wade Family Funeral Home Chapel, 4140 W. Pioneer Parkway, Arlington, Dr. Eric Herrstrom officiating. Interment: 2 p.m. Tuesday in Elmwood Memorial Park, Abilene. Visitation: The family will receive friends 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Wade Family Funeral Home. Laverne was born March 30, 1927, in Midway to Beckham W. Fields and Jessie Ballew Fields. A resident of Arlington for the past four years, she was a longtime Abilene resident. She was very involved with First Baptist Church of Abilene and was a past president of the Woman's Club of Abilene. Laverne enjoyed oil painting, antique collecting and was a world traveler. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Meadows; son, Robert Meadows; parents; two brothers, Marshall and Wayman Fields; and sister, Jo Eudy. Survivors: Son, Bill Meadows and wife, Connie; daughter, Rebecca Anthony and husband, Larry; brother, Bruce; sisters, Marzelle and Bonnie; grandchildren, Kimberly Nudi and husband, Ryan, Trent Anthony and wife, Greta, Tiffany Cioffi and husband, Rob, Michael Meadows and wife, Misty; and five great-grandchildren.
