ARLINGTON -- Katherine Louise Mears passed away Friday, April 4, 2014, in Arlington. Funeral: Noon Thursday at Mayfield Road Baptist Church, 1701 E. Mayfield Road, Arlington. Interment: 2:15 p.m. in Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, Dallas, Lane B. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Wade Family Funeral Home, 4140 W. Pioneer Parkway, Arlington. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Cal Farley's Boys Ranch, Box 1890, Amarillo, Texas 79174. Louise was born Sept. 29, 1926, in Fullerton, La., to Dempsey and Florence Nolen. She graduated from Pitkin High School in Pitkin, La., in 1943 and attended Louisiana State University. She married Bill on Nov. 12, 1948, in Merryville, La., and they subsequently lived in Pitkin, La., and Winnie, Sealy, Beaumont, Galveston, Amarillo, Longview and Pantego. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and devoted friend who focused her life on her faith, her family and her friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Ray Absalom Nolen and Clifford Thomas Nolen; and sisters, Thelma Lorraine McDonald and Bertice Estelle McDonald. Survivors: Her husband of 65 years, Wilbur Warren "Bill" Mears of Pantego; son, Philip Nolen Mears and wife, Suzy, of San Angelo; daughter, Laura Lynn Mears of Arlington; grandson, Eric Warren Mears and wife, Melynda, of Lewisville; grandson, Dr. Robbie J. Harris III of Nashville, Tenn.; granddaughter, Joy Lynn Sanzone and husband, Paul, of Jersey City, N.J.; grandson, John Nolen Harris of Denver, Colo.; great-grandchildren, Jordan Andrew Mears and Elizabeth Joy Mears of Lewisville; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
