ARLINGTON -- John "Jack" Simpson Shanks, 91, passed away Wednesday, May 28, 2014, in Arlington.
Memorial service: 2 p.m. Monday at Wade Family Funeral Home, 4140 W. Pioneer Parkway, Dr. Ed Kolbe officiating.
Jack was born March 17, 1923, in Alexandria, Ontario, Canada, to Edward Shanks and Emily Simpson Shanks. He was raised in Canada and served in the Canadian Army during World War II.
In 1966, Jack immigrated to the United States. He soon met and married the joy of his life, Henryette Stevenson Robinson, in 1968.
Jack worked for the Stevens Corporation of Fort Worth. He was a distinguished member of the Arlington Senior Men's Golf Association.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Stan; sister, Kay; first wife, Doris Young; and his beloved Missy.
Survivors: Wife, Henryette Shanks; daughters, Bonnie Brooks, Carla Robinson, Susan McCallum, Penny Wyse and Jennifer Nichols; brother, Osie Shanks; sister, Bette Cumpton; eight grandchildren; and seven great-granchildren.
