PANTEGO -- John Ronald Richards, 79, passed away on Wednesday, May 25, 2016 in Pantego. Funeral: 12:00 noon Wednesday, June 1st at Wade Family Funeral Home, 4140 W. Pioneer Parkway, Arlington. Interment: 2:00 p.m. at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, Dallas, Lane A. Visitation: 11-12 noon Wednesday prior to the service at the funeral home. John was born on June 11, 1936 in Blue Island, Ill. to John Stanley Richards and Helen Borem Richards. He graduated from the University of Illinois - Urbana-Champaign in 1963. John married his first wife, Joanne Eicher on October 26, 1963. He later married Polly Hill Martin on June 14, 2002. A Pantego resident for the past 22 years, he was a member of the Pantego Zoning Board and Pantego Water Board. He spent many years in Sales and after retirement, enjoyed delivering flowers. John enjoyed model railroading and was an avid golfer. He volunteered at the Colonial for many years and was a former member of Shady Valley Country Club. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Helen Richards; and his first wife, Joanne Richards on Jan. 29, 1993. Survivors: Wife, Polly Hill Richards; son, Robert Richards and wife, Pilar; daughter, Sandy Barber and husband, Bill; stepsons, Gary Martin and wife, Brandie and Ronnie Martin and wife, Angie; brother, Frank Richards; sister, Sharon Ridenour and husband, Don; grandchildren, Jessica Barber, Katie Barber, Kirsten Richards, Cassidy Barber, David Richards and Alexander Richards; and numerous nieces and nephews.
