John James Platt, 61, passed away on May 16, 2022, in Dallas, Texas.

Memorial Service: 6-9 p.m. Saturday, July 16, at Cliff Nelson Recreation Center, 4600 W. Bardin Road, Arlington, Texas 76017.

John was born on February 4, 1961 in Madison, Wisconsin to Carl Roger Platt and Donna Jean Welch Platt. He graduated in 1979 from Brophy College Preparatory in Arizona. He ran numerous independent businesses. John enjoyed spending time with his father. His love of construction came from his Dad who taught him everything he knew. The time spent with his father was special to him.
John loved to design different projects. He built homes and designed outdoor living spaces.

John loved to talk and tell stories. He was always the life of the party. He enjoyed traveling and loved experiencing different cultures. He enjoyed boating and water skiing. He went snow skiing with his mom and brother every winter. John adored his nieces and nephews and loved spending time with them. He enjoyed 4-wheel off-roading. John enjoyed all kinds of shooting and sporting clays.
He was preceded in death by his father, Carl Platt.

John is survived by his mother, Donna Platt of Phoenix, AZ; brother, Michael Platt; sister-in-law, Karen Platt; love of his life and former wife, Mary Burke; nephew, Michael Platt; nieces, Amber Platt Robinson, Nicole Platt Kellogg, Amanda and April Platt; step-mother, Laura Platt; step-sister, Laurie Platt Thompson; angel aunt, Jaris Traw; cousins, Tracy and Mike Breeze, Michael Breeze, Codee Breeze, Shane Breeze, and Kaden Breeze of AZ, Greg and Amy Harris, Colt Harris, Ashleigh Harris, and Jessica Harris of TX, Eric and Kathy Maxey of AZ.

I miss our talks in the middle of the night even though at the time it was hard to focus much sometimes since I was so tired.
