ARLINGTON -- Jeanne Blackley entered into eternal life Sunday, July 15, 2012, at home, surrounded by her family. Funeral: 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church, 1200 S. Davis Drive, Arlington. Visitation: The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Wade Family Funeral Home, 4140 W. Pioneer Parkway, Arlington. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you donate to Community Hospice of Texas, 817-870-2795, or Peace and Justice, St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church, 817-274-0643. Jeanne was born May 3, 1924, in Brewster, N.Y., and was the daughter of Jim and Nellie Durkin. She graduated from St. Lawrence Catholic School in Brewster. Afterwards, Jeanne lived in New York City and worked for Reader's Digest. It was in the city where she met her future husband, Peter, a career Air Force officer. Jeanne was dedicated to her husband and his 30-year military career, moving countless times, making a home with each new assignment. Being a devoted wife, mother and homemaker were her greatest accomplishments. Her loving kindness, cheerful ways and playful personality will be missed by all. Jeanne was a faithful parishioner at St. Maria Goretti and served as a volunteer for its food pantry. Survivors: Daughters, Kit and Brooke; sons-in-law, Ron and Charlie; grandchildren, Lacey, Chris and Stefani; and adopted son, Michael.
