James Robert Prochaska

james prochaska

September 1, 1964 ~ May 11, 2024

Born in: Fort Worth, TX
Resided in: Arlington, TX

If there’s one thing you can say about James (who we all call Bubba) Prochaska, it’s that there was never a dull moment with him around. If you were in an elevator with complete strangers, he would talk to them.

There were countless times complete strangers would call his name at any resort where he was staying.

He was born to loving parents, Robert and Marian Prochaska. He was the youngest of five. His late mother Marian routinely told the family the happiest year of her life was the year James went to kindergarten!
He had so many friends through the years that he met through work – including at Skaggs, Wonder Bread and FedEx.

It was his job at American Airlines that left him the most fulfilled. It left him the time and the means to travel the world. Just in the last few years – he got to snorkel in the Great Barrier Reef, hike to the ancient city of Petra and swim with dolphins in the Amazon.

His favorite place, though, was Mexico. He never missed an opportunity to head to Cozumel to snorkel, relax on the beach or rent a questionable moped.

He leaves behind his son and frequent travel companion Justin, his father, Robert, his brothers, George and Jerry, and his sister, Susan.

He’ll join his wife of more than 30 years Cynthia, his beloved mother, Marion and his brother Michael in heaven.

He’ll be missed – not just because of his personality but because of the immense love he gave everyone he met.

Memories Timeline

  1. My favorite member I will truly miss you and how we always shared the great vacations you and the family enjoyed.

  2. I worked with James off and on for many years but the latest was term C at DFW. He always had a small in his face and was kind to everyone that he come in contact with. He was a pleasure to work with and he will be missed. Rip!

  3. James always would give me the biggest smile and a great conversation when I would work him. I originally met him when I started with American Airlines in Miami and then I transferred to Dallas. Next thing, I heard he was on his way back home to DFW as well. He would update me on the progress of his home he shared with his wife before she passed and how it was in renovation because that’s what she would’ve wanted. It was a pleasure working with such a nice human being. He will forever be remembered and truly missed. Sleep in peace Prochaska! <3

  4. James was a wonderful person and always made everybody’s day brighter may he rest in peace will never be forgotten

  6. My husband Kirk Garrett worked with Jim and considered him a friend. We were in Mexico one time on a cruise and lo and behold we ran into Jim he was in a lil store there, We were so shocked to see someone that he knew. He told us all the good there. Kirk feels the loss of Jim as all that knew him! I will miss hearing all the stories when Kirk comes home for sure.

  7. Jim will truly be missed by many. After Cindy’s passing he often would call and we would just talk through the sadness until I could get him to laugh again. He was one of my best friends at work. We would just laugh and cut up at work and it made work fun. I will miss our calls to each other and was looking forward to his visit to Seattle. May he rest in peace and is now home with his wife that he dearly missed.

  10. CandleImageWhat can I say. Bubba and I survived the Roat’s as being the ones married into family…by sticking together. I lived him as a brother I never had.

Will never forget you finally getting us on a cruise! Best of times So glad I got to travel with you and Cindy. Roger and I will always be there for Justin.

    Cindy Roat

  11. My friend and my brother,

You were there from fishing trips with the Pit Boss, to base ball with Doug, and the company Christmas party. Thanks for everything including letting me hang out with you while I worked the Super Bowl. I’m grateful for having you as my brother. Peace and Blessings to the family and Justin if you need me you have my information. R.I.P. Jimmy

  12. Jim(Bubba) you were my best friend. You were the reason I got to see Nolan Ryan’s seventh no-hitter and Ladamian Tomlinson’s final game at TCU together. More importantly you were there for me after my oldest son died. We had only been friends for less than a year but you were there. I couldn’t have asked for a better friend. I’m going to miss our friendship. I know you’re with Cindy and that’s what matters. I will be there for you Justin if he needs anything.
