James “Jim” Harris Horton Sr., 90, passed away on Monday, February 20, 2023 in Arlington, Texas.
Jim was born on January 10, 1933 in New Orleans, Louisiana to Dr. Francis Kennedy Horton and Elizabeth McIver Horton. He was raised in Clarksdale, Mississippi as the son of a Baptist preacher. After high school, Jim married his high school sweetheart, Patricia Foy with whom he shares his first born son, James Horton, Jr. Jim worked a variety of odd jobs over the years while earning his Bachelor’s degree from Delta State University. He began his career at NASA in Huntsville, Alabama. He and Patricia went their separate ways, and Jim found his way to Arlington to work as an electrical draftsman for LTV in 1965. It was in Arlington where Jim met his wife, Ann, and they were married in 1970. Together they share a son, David Horton. Jim retired from LTV in 1993. In his retirement, Jim certainly kept himself busy! He enjoyed working in his garden, taking care of both his home and his neighbors, and volunteering at Mission Arlington. Jim was a member of First Baptist Church Arlington.
Jim was predeceased by his parents and his wife, Ann. He is survived by sons: James Horton, Jr and David Horton; grandchildren: Michael Horton, Lauren Mathew, Brayden Horton, and Anna Horton; as well as various extended family members and friends.
