ARLINGTON -- James Foster Richards passed away Saturday, Nov. 30, 2013. Funeral: 2 p.m. Thursday at First United Methodist Church of Arlington with the Rev. David Mosser officiating. Visitation: The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Wade Family Funeral Home, 4140 W. Pioneer Parkway, Arlington. Memorials: First United Methodist Church Permanent Fund, 313 N. Center St., Arlington, Texas 76011, in lieu of flowers. James was born Nov. 30, 1926, in Denton, the third child of Clarence Otha Richards and Octa Mae Foster Richards. He graduated from Bridgeport High School in 1947. On Oct. 9, 1948, James married Rosetta Admire, a marriage that was in its 65th year at the time of his death. James entered the U.S. Navy in 1943 and served aboard the USS Tripoli until the end of hostilities in the Pacific. James was a well-known businessman in Arlington. After working at North American/Convair, he joined Stewart Auto Parts for six years. He owned and managed Scrub-A-Dub Car Wash on Randol Mill Road for 13 years. After some time off, he opened The Arlington Mower Shop and retired after 17 years. James was a 25-year veteran of the Arlington Police Reserve and a 60-plus-year member of the Arlington Masonic Lodge. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Arlington, serving as a communion steward for many years. James was a friend to many and a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather, deeply respected by his family. He loved to fish, Lake Bridgeport being his favorite. His backyard fish fries were a delicious treat for all. He was a preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Clarence Otha Richards Jr. and Albert Evans Richards; and son-in-law, Clark S. Davis. Survivors: Wife, Rosetta; daughters, Vicki Lynne Davis and Audrianne Smith and husband, Samuel Smith III; grandchildren, Christianna Yarbrough and husband, Micah Yarbrough, James Patrick Talley and wife, Samantha Talley, Shane Derrick Miles, Nathaniel Ryan Smith and Lauren Marie Lewis and husband, Daniel Shane Lewis; and three great-grandchildren.
