James A. Long,(Jimmy) beloved son, brother, father, partner, and friend, passed away on February 3, 2024 in Arlington, Texas. He was born on December 26, 1961, in his hometown of Arlington, a place that held a special place in his heart throughout his life.
Known for his charismatic and warm personality, Jimmy had the unique ability to make everyone he met feel like a friend. He had a mischievous spirit and a great sense of humor that would light up any room. Jimmy never shied away from lending a helping hand, using his skills as a Lather Plaster to fix and improve things, always wanting to be useful and helpful to those around him.
Jimmy had a passion for cars and enjoyed tearing apart lawn mowers and small engines, fixing them with his expert knowledge of carburetors. A fan of the Dallas Cowboys, Jimmy was also a talented soccer player in his youth and was known for his love of sports.
Family was of utmost importance to Jimmy . He cherished his son, James Long Jr., and had a special bond with his soulmate and partner, Julie Long, whom he met in high school. The love they shared was evident in the way they supported each other throughout their lives. Jimmy was incredibly proud of his family, always encouraging and uplifting them. He is survived by his son, Jimmy Long Jr., sisters, Paula Long, Lesli McKee, and her husband Jim, Julie Long, Partner, Ryan Knight, Step-son along with his nieces, nephews and grandchildren he loved dearly.
Jimmy had a deep appreciation for the outdoors and loved spending time fishing. He found solace in the beauty of nature and often visited the farm in Oklahoma, where he enjoyed assisting Jim with various tasks. A man with simple pleasures.
Jimmy is pre deceased by James Long, Father, Bobbye Long, Mother, Jeananne Halcomb, Sister and Jeremiah Gillispie, Nephew.
A visitation will be held on Friday, February 9, 2024 from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Wade Funeral Home in Arlington, Texas. A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, February 10 at 2:00 pm at Redland Cemetery in Oklahoma.
Jimmy Long leaves behind a legacy of laughter, love, and kindness. His warm presence and compassionate spirit will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. May his soul find eternal peace, and may his memories bring comfort and solace to those grieving his loss.
