Born in: Monterrey, MOR

Israel Guajardo Rodriguez, 48 years of age, of Arlington, Texas, peacefully passed away on January 27, 2023, at home surrounded by his family after a long and fierce battle with cancer. He was born in Monterrey, Mexico, to Miguel Guajardo and Guadalupe Rodriguez on October 1, 1974.

His childhood in Monterrey was an idyllic time in his life, which he recalled fondly; mainly growing up in his father’s bakery and his aunt Blanca’s hair salon, which is where he discovered his passion and talent for hair.

When he was a teenager, Israel, along with his mom and siblings, moved to Arlington, Texas, where he attended Lamar High School. Shortly after, he moved to the Inland Empire in California, where he obtained his Cosmetology License. A lifelong learner, Israel perfected his craft by attending a series of yearly hair cutting and coloring courses at the Vidal Sassoon Academy in Santa Monica, California.

In February 2009, he met his husband through a mutual friend, and they have been inseparable since then. In January 2010, Israel moved back to Arlington, Texas, in pursuit of the American Dream. Here is where he embarked on a lifelong dream of opening a hair salon. His vision became a reality with Mode Salon, which reflects all the love, hard work and dedication he had for the industry, for his craft, for his team, and for every person that ever sat in his chair. Israel dedicated the following 13 years to growing and establishing what would become his legacy.

Israel was never scared to take on new challenges and did everything with love, honesty and integrity. He had very strong values, an admirable work ethic, and an infectious positive attitude. Israel’s legacy extends beyond the salon; he was more than a hairstylist- he was an artist, a mentor, a friend, a confidant. He made an impact on those that were lucky enough to spend time with him.

Israel is survived and missed by his loving husband of 14 years Rafael Alex Acero; his mom Lupe Rodriguez; his sister Karla Guajardo, and his brother Miguel Rodriguez. He will be forever cherished and remembered by his nieces, nephews, cousins, chosen family and friends.
