Gary Scott Conway, 77, passed away on December 7, 2021, in Arlington, TX.
Gary was born on August 7, 1944 in Arlington, TX, to Marion Eugene “Buck” and Virginia Fay
Conway. Gary graduated from LD Bell High School in 1963 and earned a degree in Mathematical Engineering from the University of Texas at Arlington in 1968. He began his career as an engineer at LTV Corporation then moved to Bell Helicopter. In 1980, Gary started his own business as a MAC Tool Dealer. He was recruited to work for the United States government on the Supercollider in 1991. In 1993, Gary opened his own Midas Muffler shop . Gary came full circle, going back to work at Bell Helicopter from 1998 until his retirement. While at Bell, the US patent office granted Gary two patents for his inventions.
Gary married Francia Marie Marzonie on July 1, 1970 in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. The couple made their home in Arlington, Texas and had 3 children, Michelle, Erin, and Leslie. Gary built a home for his family in Pantego, Texas. After Francia passed away in 1999, Gary married Laura Hammett on October 12, 2002.
Gary was best known for good advice, thoughtful analysis, a calming presence (especially with teenage daughters), and the ability to design and fix just about anything. Gary enjoyed making great birdhouses with his grandkids.
Gary is survived by wife, Laura Conway; daughters, Michelle Conway Crosby, Erin Conway Hansen, and Leslie Conway Jones Hayes; step-children Trevor Hammett, Brittany Hammett Miera, and Morgan Hammett Moore; brothers, Mike Conway and Joel Conway; sister, Jan Neal; and 26 grandchildren.
Gary is preceded in death by wife, Francia Marzonie Conway and parents, Buck and Virginia Conway.
The memorial service for Gary Conway will be held on Friday, December 17th at 3pm at Wade Funeral Home on Pioneer Parkway in Arlington.
Memorial donations can be made in Gary’s name to UT Southwestern Medical Center.
