Floyd Harris Ivey Iii

Floyd Harris Ivey III, 82, passed away on July 11, 2024, in Arlington, TX surrounded by his loving family.

Floyd was born on April 18, 1942, in Washington, GA to Floyd Jr and Edna (Shelton) Ivey of Warrenton, GA. After graduating from high school from the Madrid/Torrejon High School in Spain in 1960, he joined the United States Air Force, and proudly served until 1968. Throughout this time, he was stationed in Japan, Vietnam, Thailand, and Andrews Air Force Base (with the Presidential Airlift Wing). It was during his time in Okinawa (in the early 1960s), that he met the love of his life, Toshimi. Floyd and Toshimi were married in 1973 in Okinawa, Japan, and were married for 49 years. Floyd worked for E-Systems as a Field Engineer with the United States Marine Corps in Southeast Asia and Okinawa from 1968 to 1983. He retired in 2004 from E-Systems and the Siemens Corporation.

Throughout his life, Floyd traveled often, made (lifelong) friends everywhere, and went fishing whenever he possibly could. Once he entered retirement, he was passionate about volunteering for the Arlington Memorial Hospital, at the Cardiac Rehab center. He truly was one of a kind.

Floyd is survived by his daughter, Susan (Jon) Palmer; grandchildren Anna (Dan) Fitcher (and their four children, Kayla [and Keegan Foss with twins on the way], Kamryn, Blake, and Brynlee), Airi (Sam) Theth (and their four children, Chantel [Dillon] Iverson, Jayden, Kai, and Noah), Erica Mathews (and her five children Aiden, Liam, Jakobe, Harlo, and Nienna), Jonathan (Emily) Palmer (and their children Emma and Motley), Joshua (Anna) Palmer (and their son Jennings), and Emily Palmer (and Jose Lopez).

Floyd is preceded in death by his loving wife, Toshimi, and parents Floyd Jr. and Edna Ivey.
