ARLINGTON -- Emmett Lee "Pug" Knowles, 87, was called home Monday, Nov. 11, 2013, in Arlington. Funeral: 10 a.m. Friday at The Grace Place, 5950 S. Collins St., Arlington. Interment: 3 p.m. in Lakeview Memorial Gardens, 5000 W. Harrison Road, Longview. Visitation: The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Wade Family Funeral Home, 4140 W. Pioneer Parkway, Arlington. Emmett was born June 7, 1926, in Roscoe. He was a veteran who served in the U.S. Navy in World War II. He was also a proud minister of the gospel. He never met a stranger. He loved his family. He loved his God. His greatest joy came from studying, discussing, teaching, hearing and preaching God's word. You never saw his name in the bright lights, but he moved mountains on his knees. Those who knew him were affected by his faith. He lived in Longview for 32 years, and in Arlington this last year. He is and will continue to be greatly missed. His family and friends consider themselves blessed to have been a part of Emmett's life. Survivors: He is survived by seven children, 18 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and three great-grandchildren on the way.
