Emma Tamez Kestenbaum, 66, passed unexpectedly on Dec. 13, 2021 surrounded by her husband and children.

Born in Elsa,Texas to Simon and Micaela Tamez, Emma grew up in Weslaco, Tx.  Where she ran varsity track at Weslaco HS and received her associate degree from Pan Am University in 1975.  Emma moved to Houston in 1980 where she met and married the love of her life and husband of 41 years Robert Kestenbaum, D.D.S.  They relocated to Arlington, Tx. In 1986 where they lived for 35 years raising two children, David and Niki.  Emma was the bookkeeper for her husband’s Dental practice and was a lifelong Cowboys fan.  She was the family’s biggest cheerleader at the kids’ sporting events, living a full life devoted to family and friends.  Her infectious smile and vivacious personality would light up any room.  A meticulous homemaker, she was a loving caring daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and friend.  An adventurous soul, she loved music and dancing, waterskiing and days at the beach.  Her happiest times were spent with her two grandchildren who called her Nana.  She will be remembered fondly and missed by all who knew her.

Emma was preceded in death by her parents, and survived by her husband Robert Kestenbaum, children David Kestenbaum (Sara) and Niki Kestenbaum, grandchildren Landon and Emery Kestenbaum, brothers Carlos Tamez (Patty), Homer Tamez (Becca), sisters Cindy Tamez and Nora Janice (Mark).
