Eileen Carole Vaughan Watson was born August 14, 1936 in Victoria, TX to loving parents Pauline Haynes Vaughan and Robert D Vaughan.Eileen grew up in Eastland, TX and moved to Robert Lee, TX for her senior year of high school. She attended Texas Tech for two years prior to marrying Norman G Watson on January 29, 1956, and enjoyed almost 62 years of marriage before Norman's passing in 2017. Eileen taught piano lessons out of her home for 21 years and continued to play into the months prior to her passing. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren cherish memories of time spent on the piano bench, playing and singing hymns and Christmas songs together. She found joy in gathering with friends to play bridge and mahjong, discovering and documenting family genealogy, and reading about Texas history. She made life-long friends as a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma and Beta Sigma Phi sororities. A lasting testament of Eileen's love of gardening, Eileen's garden continues to be an oasis of color, full of heirloom plants grown from seed and bulbs taken from her family's homes around Texas. Eileen was an active and integral member of First Christian Church Arlington for the past 57 years, where she was recognized for her servant leadership and awarded the high honor of “Church Woman of the Year.” She led multiple committees, served on the board, was a church elder, and participated in Christian Adult Fellowship (CAF) and Christian Women's Fellowship. Eileen's friends and family have fond memories of Eileen singing in the choir, playing handbells, and playing piano for CAF meetings. She was always known to answer the call to provide food for the Arlington Life Shelter and coordinate bereavement meals for memorial services. Eileen served her community with her love of quilting. As a member of the Quilt Guild of Arlington, First Christian Church sewing group, and the Friendship Stitchers, Eileen sewed countless items for donation to Cook Children's Hospital, children of deployed military parents, and those undergoing Cancer treatment. She was the epitome of servant leadership and lived her entire life serving others with no expectation of receiving anything in return. Eileen was predeceased by her parents Pauline Haynes Vaughan and Robert D Vaughan, sister Paula Vaughan, and husband Norman G. Watson. She is survived by her children: Katherine Middleton (David), Keith Watson, Michael Watson (Debbie); grandchildren: Emily Gonzalez, Allison Tarbutton, Danielle Burns, Samuel Watson, Tina Ann Torres, Jordan Parks, Ciara Alexander; great grandchildren: Evelyn, Henry, Logan, Piper, Abigail, Juan Jr., MaKayla, Felicitas, and Lalah; and sisters Mary Bessent and Vernay Carrington (Tom). Services will be held at First Christian Church in Arlington, Texas on Saturday, November 6th at 11:30am. In lieu of flowers, Eileen's request is that memorial gifts in her name be made to the Memorial Fund of First Christian Church, 910 S Collins, Arlington TX 76010. “Her children arise up and call her blessed.” Proverbs 31:28 Wade Family Funeral Home (817) 274-9233
