Dorothy was born December 24, 1935 in Brooklyn, New York, the youngest of four daughters to Helen Trippi and Anthony Guglielmo. After beginning her career as a hair stylist, she met and married her husband Joseph E. Gay on September 8th, 1956. They remained married for 29 years until his death in 1985. They raised their four daughters in Hicksville, New York until they moved to Arlington, Texas in 1971 making Arlington their home.

All that knew Dorothy, knew her to be a loving, strong, and independent woman which she passed on to her four daughters in various ways. She took incredible pride in her family and loved all of them fiercely. She was affectionally nicknamed “Big Nana” which described our tiny mother perfectly. She was a creative and talented artist who enjoyed painting, gardening, reading, and building her life around her family. In addition to her family life, she continued her love of fashion, style, and hair where she returned as stylist and became a school instructor sharing her passion for making others be their best and most beautiful self everyday.

She will be lovingly remembered by her children, Celeste Gay Ashworth and husband Bruce, Jacqueline Tully Weldon and husband Steve, Susan Gay Forrer and husband Robert, Elizabeth Gay Milburn and husband Todd; her 10 grandchildren Lindsay Yanaway, Jean Hutnyak, Meighan Williams, Collin Ashworth, Zach Forrer, Harrison Tully, Alec Forrer, Spencer Tully, McKenzie Brown, Caroline Brown; and 6 great grandchildren Hunter Grace, Hampton Elizabeth, Holt Ashworth,  Hill Alexander, Bradshaw Allen,  and Palmer Genevieve; and her sisters Clara Wilsdorf and husband Arthur, two of her predeceased sisters Gilda Caputo and Jean Forte.

  1. Dorothy was such a sweet & kind lady. I always enjoyed visiting with her when I would come to visit my mother who lives across the hall. We would always talk while she walked Mia. God bless you all for the loss of such a great lady.
