David Allen Scholl

David Allen Scholl passed into eternal glory and joined his Lord and Savior on November 17, 2019. David was a man of honor, integrity and humility. His words were intentional. His work was always done with a high degree of excellence. He had a thirst for triumph, of good over evil and a desire to help the vulnerable. He was compassionate, caring and had a great sense of humor. He was a loving husband, son, brother, uncle, and in-law, to his family and a loyal friend to many. David gave God the glory for the missions and accomplishments in his life. He loved Christ's message and lived to be more Christ-like every day. David was born September 9, 1961 in Olympia, WA. He was raised by his loving mother, Sharon with support from his grandparents and older siblings. He grew up in Lakewood, WA. When David was in school, he lettered in four sports and was student body president. David was a 15 year veteran of the US Army Special Forces (Green Berets). He served ten years as an Operations and Intelligence sergeant with the 5th Special Forces Group. Combat operations included Desert Storm and Somalia, where he earned a Bronze Star, Meritorious Service, and Joint Forces Commendation medals. Before departing the service, David ran the Military Free Fall Jumpmaster Course as the Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge. The failure rate was extremely high for the course and David quickly realized the need for change. He re-wrote and modernized the curriculum. They were able to significantly increase the graduation rate, while maintaining the high standards of HALO course. From 2003 to 2013, David worked in Iraq, in several capacities. Beginning with two years of managing field operations to negotiate security for reconstruction projects. He spent two years as a counterinsurgency advisor with both the U.S. Army and Marine Corps, as well as the 5th and 7th Iraqi Army SF Divisions. He managed training at the Iraqi Military Intelligence Academy before working to find missing Americans with the USF-I Personnel Recovery Division. He re-wrote the personnel recovery mission, which was used by the U.S. Department of Defense. He spent the final two years as the Special Projects and Personnel Recovery Coordinator for the Regional Security Office at the U.S. Embassy Baghdad. In 2007, David took six months off from working in Iraq. God led him to Grapevine, TX and he faithfully followed. He hosted an AM Radio talk show that promoted American patriotism. He met Darla and they quickly became friends. It wasn't long before they both realized that God led him to Grapevine to meet his soulmate. They married in February of 2009. Their marriage was a prime example of what love, devotion, commitment, and honor to God are, in a marriage. Those that know them as a couple, know that they will always be “Two D's in a Pod”. In 2014, David and business partner Ro Lopez created Nations Secure LLC with an objective of leveraging an international organization of professionals to generate funds for their non-profit organization, Freedom's Shield. David was the architect of Operation Liber – Iraq. The mission for rescue has led to the recovery of over 1,200 Yazidi women and children from Iraq and Syria, as well as trafficked victims within Egypt and the UAE. This mission will lead to the rescue of thousands more sex trafficked victims around the world. The center in Pakistan created for the rescues of Christian women, who are victims of sex trafficking, will be named the David Scholl Center in honor of his memory. David and Ro also created Traveler Secure, a smart phone safety and security app. The app allows families, corporations, and organizations to maintain accountability of individual users while providing an immediate response to any safety and security threats. While David is greatly missed, we are thankful to the Lord for the time we got to spend with him.
