ARLINGTON -- Cristina Canales, 94, passed away Monday, Oct. 1, 2012, in Arlington.
Funeral Mass: 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1927 SW Green Oaks Blvd., Arlington. Visitation: The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with a rosary beginning at 7.
Memorials: Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
Cristina was born July 5, 1918, in Sonsanate, El Salvador, to Miguel and Maria Salguero Penate. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with her granddaughters.
Cristina was preceded in death by her husband, Julio Canales; her parents; and brothers and sisters.
Survivors: Son, Dr. Miguel Canales and wife, Rebeca; sister, Carmen Robinson and husband, Herbert; granddaughters, Sarah, Raquel and Irene; and numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.

Familia Canales, Lamentando mucho la partida de Nina Tinita que tuvimos la oportunidad de convivir con ella y agradecerle el carino que le dio a mis hijas como de una Abuelita, la vamos a extranar mucho, pero sabemos que va a estar descansando en la gloria de Dios.

When the Lord calls our loved one home, He leaves a gift of memories in exchange. It’s hard to understand why people are taken from us, but find confort in knowing all of you were a special part of such a well-lived life.
We are greatful we were able to know Cristina. She leaves a wonderful family as her legacy.
