ARLINGTON -- Carol Lee Venn, 65, went to her heavenly home in the arms of her beloved angels on Sunday, Feb. 26, 2012, in Arlington. Funeral: 2 p.m. Monday at Trinity United Methodist Church, 3321 W. Park Row Drive, Arlington, the Rev. Miriam Georg officiating. Interment: Emerald Hills Memorial Park, Kennedale. Visitation: The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Wade Family Funeral Home, 4140 W. Pioneer Parkway, Arlington. Memorials: Memorial donations may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, Arlington. Carol was born Aug. 25, 1946, in Flint, Mich., to Edward George Shaker and Audrey Elaine Lillieberg Shaker. Carol met her future husband, Denny, in November 1964 at a college mixer at Central Michigan University and they were married on Feb. 5, 1967. She graduated magna cum laude in 1968 with a degree in teaching. Soon after graduation they moved to Texas where she taught at Kennedale Elementary School from 1969-1984. Carol retired from teaching and became very involved at their son's school, Ditto Elementary. She was active at all school functions, PTA, and was a den mother for the Cub Scouts. She was a take-charge volunteer for everything at Jason's school. Carol was a very accomplished artist. She attended art class where she became very close with her fellow artists and instructor, Jim Stegall. Every room of her home was adorned with her beautiful watercolor paintings. Carol was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church where she was involved in: Celebration Handbells, Worship Committee, was president of the U.M.W., Lydia Circle leader, and was secretary of the Building Committee for the new church. She also painted the Noah's Ark Mural in the children's wing of the church. Carol was a very hospitable person who made people feel welcome and at home there. Carol surrounded herself with her angels, both spiritually and physically, with her large collection of angels. She was closely involved in her neighborhood "games night" and bunco, and enjoyed co-hosting the annual beach party. Carol was a very beautiful, loving and caring person who will be missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors: Husband of 45 years, Denny Venn; son, Dr. Jason Venn and wife, Rachel; grandson, Caden; brother, Tom Shaker and wife, Tammy; brothers-in-law, Jeff Venn and partner, Michael Wendorf, Jerry Venn and wife, Bonnie; numerous nieces and nephews; and many beloved friends.
