ARLINGTON -- Billy Guthrie Stephens, 81, passed away Sunday, July 26, 2015, in Arlington, surrounded by his loving family and friends. Funeral: 11 a.m. Friday at Wade Family Funeral Home, 4140 W. Pioneer Parkway, Arlington, with the Rev. Robert Bennett officiating. Interment: 1 p.m. in Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, Dallas, Lane A. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Billy was born Jan. 11, 1934, in Simpsonville to Jewel Lafayette Stephens and Gladys Myrtle Guthrie Stephens. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Billy had resided in Arlington for the past 60 years and retired from General Motors after 34 years in auto production. He was a member of Northwest Baptist Church. Billy enjoyed making knives and model cars. He loved going to Branson, Mo., camping and traveling. Survivors: Wife of 59 years, Octavia Pack Stephens; sons, David Stephens and wife, Vicki, Rowdy Stephens and wife, Melissa, and Dana Stephens and wife, Marie; daughter, DeeDee Stephens; brother, J.L. Stephens; sisters, Virginia Palmer, Violet Attaway, Glynn Slaughter and Dionne McRae; grandchildren, Michael, Craig, Grant, Clint, Claire, Natalie and Zachary; and three great-grandchildren.
