Betty Lou Parten

ARLINGTON -- Betty Lou Parten, 83, passed away Thursday, June 25, 2015, in Arlington. Funeral: 10 a.m. Tuesday at Wade Family Funeral Home, 4140 W. Pioneer Parkway, Arlington, Dr. Dennis Wiles officiating. Interment: 1 p.m. Tuesday in Gateway Memorial Park, Waxahachie. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Memorials: Memorial gifts may be made to the ALS Foundation, alsfoundation.org or 508-655-4381. Betty was born July 26, 1931, in Waxahachie to Charley Asbury Wilson and Roberta Johnson Wilson. She graduated from Waxahachie High School. An Arlington resident for 60 years, she was a 50-year member of First Baptist Church. Professionally, she was a longtime Arlington banker. Betty's favorite past time were the "slot machines". She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Barkley Fay Parten, on Aug. 1, 2000. Survivors: Son, Bruce Parten; daughter, Debra Payne and husband, Jerry; brothers, Charley Wilson and Clarence Wilson; sisters, Linda Strength and Wanda Miers; and grandchildren, Jordan Payne, Courtney Baker and Anthony Ruggeri.
