Bessie Bernell McNeeley

HALTOM CITY -- Bessie Bernell McNeeley, 92, a homemaker, passed away Wednesday, May 29, 2013, in Fort Worth. Funeral: 2:30 p.m. Monday at Wade Family Funeral Home, 4140 W. Pioneer Parkway, Arlington. Interment: Moore Memorial Gardens, Arlington. Visitation: The family will receive friends 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Wade Family Funeral Home. Bessie was born March 4, 1921, in Palo Pinto County to James Oscar Mays and Lillie Penick Mays. A longtime Haltom City resident, she and her husband purchased a farm in Celeste after his retirement. She enjoyed raising cattle and bailing hay. She was preceded in death by her husband, John T. McNeeley, in 1999; grandson, Jason Clint McNeeley; and an infant son. Survivors: Sons, William McNeeley and wife, Patricia, and Johnny McNeeley and wife, Sharon; daughters, Thelma Ames and Lillie Ficklen and husband, David; sister, Sue Shearman and husband, Donald; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
