ARLINGTON -- Alma Darlene Christopher, 71, passed away Monday, Feb. 22, 2016. Funeral: 10 a.m. Thursday at Mayfield Road Baptist Church, 1701 E. Mayfield Rd., Arlington. Graveside service: 3:30 p.m. Thursday in Hallsville Cemetery, Hallsville. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Wade Family Funeral Home, 4140 W. Pioneer Parkway, Arlington. Alma "Darlene" Christopher was born on February 29, 1944. She spent her younger years in East Texas where she worked at Brookshire's and Dairy Queen. She moved with her family to Arlington, TX in 1977. She was a school cafeteria worker for years at Ditto Elementary while her children attended there. She later became a preschool teacher at Woods Chapel Preschool. She loved working with the young children there. She became the director of the preschool in 1993. She served faithfully in that position until 2007. After retiring from the preschool, she enjoyed time with her husband, Cecil. They loved to travel and visit family. They also enjoyed watching their grandchildren participate in their favorite sports. Darlene loved to go to the Johnny High Show and listen to country music. She also loved to laugh and be around those she counted as family. Darlene will be greatly missed by all who loved her. Her family takes comfort in knowing they will see her again when we are all called home to Heaven. Darlene is preceded in death by her parents; a brother; and a sister. Survivors: Husband of 50 years, Cecil Christopher; children, Lynda Jones and husband, Keith, Beverly Moore and husband, Kevin, Donna Caro and husband, Peter and Ryan Christopher and wife, Julie; brother, Robert Key; sisters, Dorothy Brightwell and husband, James and Betty Caldwell and husband, Allen; 15 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; and numerous other family members and friends.   3. Darlene, Thank you for your love, support and kindness to me through the years. You took me under your wing many years ago. Since then, you became a good friend. I’ll miss seeing you and Cecil at Walmart. Maybe I’ll run into Cecil. But it won’t be the same without you. RIP dear lady.
