Gayl, Lori, and Eric,
Words fall short of expressing my sorrow. May you find comfort in knowing that your brother Keith had definitely left an indelible impact on his family, friends and a community that admire and respects him. It is an honor for me to acknowledge that I truly remember this young man as growing up younger than me on Jefferson Street in Muskegon Heights. On behalf of my siblings (from Fifth Street) I extend heartfelt condolences to you and your families – hoping that time and memories will help lessen the burden of your sorrow and you will find comfort knowing that your loss is now Heaven’s gain. May Keith’s memory be eternal.
In Sympathy,
Alice Massey~Frierson

Sgt.Keith Shepherd was a great supervisor and person. I had the good fortune to have him as my supervisor for the majority of nearly 6 years at both the JPS hospital assignment and the LECC. His style of leadership embodied all the qualities that so few in leadership are able to attain. After spending 31 years at AT&T, I hired on at Tarrant County for 8 1/2 years, retiring on 12-31-16. He was one of the last persons to congratulate me on that last day, saying that while he would miss me, while wishing me the best in retirement. He was able to achieve great respect from both his colleagues and those he supervised in the manner he led and carried himself. Well Sarge, you have also retired from active service, and you will surely reap the highest reward. You are truly and sorely missed by all. Your hearty laugh will always be in my memories.

I had he pleasure of working along side of Sergeant Shepherd at he Lon Evans Correction Center. He was the hardest working Supervisor I have ever seen. No work was beneath him. He set an example for all Officers, and Supervisors to follow. I will miss his infectious smile, and his hand shake. He was respected by his peers, inmates, and the staff that worked with him. I hope his family will know the void he leaves with us, and that he will be missed.
