After high school, she attended Secretary School in Waco; and then moved to Fort Stockton before settling in Dallas. She worked at Magnolia (Exxon Mobil) as their corporate librarian.
Jo met the love of her life, Bo McElroy, on a blind date and they were married on April 11, 1952. She left Magnolia to raise her 3 children. She later worked for the City of Pantego, the Arlington Citizen Journal, and D&D Enterprise, where she retired in December 23, 2006. Jo mothered all of the neighborhood children in Pantego. They always knew they could go to her. She was an amazing woman, sweet loving mother, admired by her family and friends.
Jo was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Ray “Bo” McElroy.
