Alma was born in Baltimore Maryland on June 24, 1927 to Herman and Katherine Witte. She graduated from Towson High School. She traveled at the very young age of 19 to New York City to become a fashion and advertising model. She was Model of the Year and on the cover of Vogue Magazine in 1947. She married Eric Ericson, the love of her life in 1948. They were married for 52 years, until his passing in 2000. She made wonderful friends wherever she lived- New York City, Norwalk, Connecticut, St. Louis, Missouri, Hilton Head, South Carolina, and Arlington, Texas. She loved being outdoors by the beach, beautiful music, flowers, writing and calling her friends and family on a daily basis, and was amazed by the clouds in the Texas sky. She expressed her creativity through sculpture and pottery. She was also very proud of her daughter, Kate, and her husband, Mel, and their contribution to the art world. She had a smile and a wave for anyone who crossed her path. She was blessed to live for many years on a special street in Hilton Head, where all her neighbors treated her like family. After the death of her beloved Katie, she so valued the love and time given to her by her 2 granddaughters, Marissa and Daniella Ericson, as well as Kate’s husband, Mel Zeigler.
Alma was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Robert Witte; husband, Eric; daughter, Kate.
Survivors: She is survived by her son, Scott; daughter-in-law, Debbie; grandaughters Marissa and Daniella; step grandson, Eric Walker; sisters in law, Maggie Posey and Jean Greener; son-in-law, Mel Zeigler, several nieces and nephews, and many dear and long time friends.
