Obituary for Russell Henry Manley

Russell Henry Manley
Russell Henry Manley, 59, formerly of Florence, Alabama, passed away, Friday, June 2, 2017 in Arlington, Texas.

Russell was preceded in death by his parents, Louise Crisler Manley and Henry Hopkins Manley: maternal grandparents Helen and Ralph Crisler; and paternal grandparents Marguerita and Joseph Manley.

He is survived by his son Shawn Manley, Grand Prairie, TX; daughters Rebecca Manley, Wichita, KS; Kristen Rose Marshall, Lawton, OK; brothers Matt Manley, Powder Springs, GA and Steve Manley, Peachtree City, GA; nieces Lindsay Zerressen, Douglasville, GA and Sarah Manley, Baltimore MD; nephew Matthew G. Manley, Austell, GA; girlfriend Lisa Beers, Arlington, TX; several cousins and countless friends.

Born May 28, 1958 in Florence, Alabama, Russell was a 1976 graduate of Coffee High School. He attended Auburn University, the University of North Texas and the University of Texas – Arlington, earning degrees in accounting and finance. He was a member of Delta Chi fraternity. A CPA, he was serving as a Senior Internal Auditor for L-3 Communications in Dallas, Texas at the time of his death.

Although Russell moved from Alabama many years ago, he loved returning to visit Auburn and Florence and recently served as chairperson for the CHS Class of 1976 Reunion.

A very devoted father, his children were the true joys of Russell’s life. He cherished them and was so proud of all they accomplished. He loved attending concerts, competitions – anything they were involved in and then sharing texts, posts and photos with family and friends.

An avid sports fan, he supported the Auburn Tigers and Chicago Cubs among others, and enjoyed playing tennis when he could. Russell loved to make people laugh and often took it upon himself to make sure everyone around him felt at ease. He was a beloved father, brother, uncle and friend who will be sorely missed by all.

A memorial service will be held Thursday, June 8, 2017 at 2:00 PM at First United Methodist Church Grand Prairie, 122 N. Center Street, Grand Prairie, Texas 75050
